Viseu International Guitar Competition
Rules and Regulation (Revised on November 2020)
Contestants who have family ties with a jury member or have studied with a jury member in the last two years will not be judged by that jury member.
The composition of the jury will be communicated to the contestants after they have correctly completed their application forms.
Applications must be made through the official competition website no later than the 10th of November 2020: www.musicadaprimavera.pt; Contestants must also submit the following documents via email to email@example.com
a) An identity document (which includes age);
b) One recent photograph;
c) Curriculum Vitae.
2. Enrolment fee
The enrolment has an entry fee of 75€, or 65€ if paid by October 27th.
The fee must be received by the 13th of November and must be paid in full via
a) Bank transfer to the following account:
2.1 Travel and accommodation will be at the contestant’s expense.
2.2 Non attendance
The enrolment fee is not refundable.
3.1 First round:
A freely chosen program of about 15 minutes which must include a Villa-Lobo’s study.
3.2 Second round:
A freely chosen program of about 20 minutes including one piece or movement from the baroque period. It is not possible to repeat works played in the first round.
3.3 Final round:
A 25 minute program that includes one or more works by the following composers: Francisco Tárrega; Agustín Barrios; Antonio Lauro; Roland Dyens; Carlo Domeniconi; Leo Brouwer. It’s allowed to repeat up to 10 minutes of the program played in previous rounds.
Note – A copy of any unpublished piece must be sent to the committee by the 23th of November 2020.
a) The competitor must frame himself entirely while still remaining close to the camera. The video should be as clear as possible (well illuminated).
b) The video, one per round, must not be edited nor can it contain cuts between the pieces.
c) Must be recorded on purpose for this competition with 1920×1080 (FullHD) minimum resolution. The record must be done horizontally (traditional format).
4.1 Videos should be sent by Google Drive, Dropbox, My Air Bridge or another equivalent service to firstname.lastname@example.org
5. Competition Structure (all online) / Submission of the videos
a) 1st Round: All competitors must submit 1 video corresponding to the 1st round by November 30th
b) 2nd Round: The selected competitors must submit another video corresponding to the 2nd round by December 9th.
c) Final round – Finalists must submit 1 video corresponding to the final by December 16th.
5.1 Once received, the videos will be published on social networks for viewing and evaluation on the following dates:
a) 1st Round: December 5th.
b) 2nd Round: December 12th.
c) Final: December 19th.
6. Contester’s Selection – The jury will announce the results on social media the day after the videos are published.
The jury has 9 members or more from 6 different countries. Details here.
8. Entrance to the final round will be based on a simple majority of votes. In case of need, the presidency of the jury has a quality vote.
The jury’s decision will be final.

+ A concert at Guitar Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla – Spain
2nd prize – 3.000 €
3rd prize – 1.500 €
Prize for the Best Portuguese Contestant– 500€
10. Contestants will waive all rights now and at any time in the future, in relation to any type of recording made during their performances in this Festival.
11. Participation in the competition implies that the contestant accept the above regulations.
